The Company has an extensive investment portfolio consisting of public securities, real estate, hedge funds and private equity. Having previously owned Prime Cable in Las Vegas, now Cox Communications, and television and radio holdings, the family has developed an expertise which supports a number of investments in the media, communications and technology sectors. Investments are made on a direct basis, through funds. The Company has numerous relationships with traditional and boutique investment banks with private equity funds and seeks to leverage those relationships with investment opportunities.
The Greenspun family has made a significant investment in the Tribune Company upon its going-private transaction with an acquisition subsidiary of the Tribune Employee Stock Ownership Plan (Tribune ESOP) with Sam Zell now serving as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive.
